“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” – Leonardo da Vinci
Flip Cam
I use a Flip Cam for my Productivity Nuggets.
Are there camera’s that have higher quality video? Yup.
Better mics? Yup.
So why do I use a Flip Cam. It’s simple. Turn it on and off is a no-brainer. Has a simple 4 key pad built around the red record button. The 4 key’s zoom in, out and move forward and backward through previous recording video’s. When I’m out and about and decide to interview someone for a real estate coaching video, I have to find a camera person. Instead of spending 5 minutes explaining how the camera works, I can just turn it on and say “Push the red button.”
I don’t need to keep track of cables or plugs either. It takes 2 AA batteries and has a built in USB plug that flips out from the side. Thus the name of the camera. It’s the right size. Fits in my pocket. Even the editing software is using to use. It’s click and drag. I love the simplicity of my Flip Cam, so I use it more then if I had a fancy $500+ video camera with lots of features.
Because I use it more, that means more real estate coaching video’s for you.
Apple Macbook
I use an Apple Macbook. I was not always a Mac. I was a PC, even part time until a few days a go when my HP crashed. Thus my reason for being a Macbook guy now.
Apple has created a user experience by removing the non-essential, in hardware and software. Even the way the disc player works to the fact that all my plug-in ports are on one side.
The operating system is click and drag. If I want to save a picture, I just drag it on to my desktop.
It can do some very complex things though when I desire. I can take a picture of anything on my screen, at any size with the command – shift- 4 drag move. On my PC I would have need to get another application called Jing to do that.

Apple iPod
MP3 music had been around since 1994 and was making its way around on the internet. The first MP3 player was released in 1997. This now meant that people could put the music that was trapped on their computer on to a portable player.
Five years later Apple release their iPod. That changed everything. The iPod was able to hold an extrodinaroy amount of music and was also so simple to use. Anyone could operate it. It has one button and a spin wheel. One button!!!
Because of the simplicity of operating an iPod everyone wanted one. Over 240,000,000 have been sold worldwide since January 2010. The iPod change how we listen to music, how we get our music and is making the music industry redefine themselves.
Oprius CRS
I was coaching at a real estate company and was working with over 50 individual real estate agents as their coach. About 70% of them were using Top Producer as their database and contact management system.
I take that back. They were paying for Top Producer, but they weren’t using it. It was becoming a theme in my real estate coaching conversations. The reason why? Everyone said it was to complicated, especially after the feature creep from 8i.
I was then on a mission to find a Client Relationship System/Contact Management System that was simple, effective and affordable. I spent 50+ hours researching every type of industry from, account sales, to resorts, to hospitality to non-profits. Oprius was the one that stood out to me. It did every thing a real estate agent would need it do, yet was simple enough for the agent to actually want to use it.
As one of my coaching clients said, “Oprius is like Google and Top Producer is like Yahoo!”
What search engine do you use? If you are like 80% of people you use Google. Sure it brings you the results you want, but it’s more than that.
Think back to the beginning of when the internet is starting to take off. People want to go online and check it out. You try to explain to them that they can just type in some words about what they are interested in and BAM! there it is. So are you going to send this newbie to Yahoo! which is all cluttered with ads, links and text or Google ,which is so obvious how it works.
