Don’t Wait To Get In Shape Before You Go To The Gym – Productivity Nugget #090

“Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit.” -Conrad Hilton

I was sitting at a coffee shop in Mill Creek after a conversation with another coach. I noticed a LA Fitness next door to the coffee shop and it made me flash back to something my brothers and I use to joke about. I share that info in the coaching video.

The whole idea of this video though is to take action. There are many things that hold you back from moving forward, but I think the biggest one is insecurity. 90% of my coaching conversations are about fear or focus. Insecurity is your fear of embarrassment, failure, etc.

Take Action

Take a look at what you want to make happen, what you are trying to make happen, what your objective for your business and life are.

Ask your self these questions to assess if you should take action now or if waiting is the better choice.

1. What’s the worse thing that could happen if I take action now?

2. If the worse thing that I can imagine does happen, how much permanent damage does it do?

3. If it does go wrong, can I do anything to correct it?

4. How long, how much effort would that take?

5. What is the outcome that is more likely to happen?

6. Has anyone with equal or less skill and talent done what I want to do?

7. What am I waiting for?

The problem with waiting in our current culture, is that things move so quickly. I know people that hesitated about getting on facebook, but are there now. These are the same people that are hesitating about getting on twitter. And I bet they will hesitate to get on Foursquare or Gowalla.

“It is even better to act quickly and err than to hesitate until the time of action is past. – Karl Von Clausewitz

Does this mean you should act on everything?

Hellz No!

It means that if it is in alignment with your real estate business development strategy, pull the trigger. Know who your audience is, assess if it will help you listen, engage, and connect with them in a more efficient and effective way. Determine if it adds leverage to your real estate business either now or at some point.

For example, creating content now, might feel like you are giving up more time. But once the real estate blog is written or video is created, it is online FOREVER!!! That’s leverage! That’s powerful!

If you won’t take my word for it, maybe you will listen to Jason Mraz:

But I won’t hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait, I’m yours

Nike’s marketing department must have been riding a stroke of genius when they coined the slogan, “Just Do It”. People make up so many excuses for not being productive its ridiculous. You just gotta get it done!
