What good is a business plan if you don’t use it?

13 years ago I sat through my first business planning workshop for my real estate sales business. It has a half day workshop.
I sat through 4 hours of learning how to create a business plan, to never look at that business plan again.
Have you ever done that?
I have worked for real estate offices, brokerages and franchises were I have facilitated business planning workshops. Some of have been half day, some full day, some have been for a couple of days.
Since the days of sitting through business planning workshops to helping real estate agents create their own business plan, I have learned a lot.
I have learned that:
1. Having a business plan is better than not having one
2. Having a business plan, but not reviewing or working from it happens really, really often.
I don’t get it.
Why invest time and money in to a business planning course and not utilize the business plan you created to build the business you desire?
Majority Of Business Plans Are TOO Complicated
“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” – Confucius
I strive for simplicity in my coaching business, in my life, in my environment and in the equipment I use.
The more simple something is, the more likely I am to use it.
The more simple a plan or system is, the more likely I am to use it.
I have a feeling that your real estate business plan was too complicated.
“The truth is that all plans must be reduced to simplicity in order for us to be able to implement them. No one can live or operate in complexity for very long – lasting success always lies in our ability to reduce thing to their simplest level.” – Gary Keller
Simple One Page Business Plan For Real Estate Agents
After conducting many business planning workshops and doing 1000′s of hours of 1 to 1 coaching I’ve recognized that a traditional business plan does not work. I’m sure you have recognized that too.
What I know works, is that your plan must be simple. Things that are complicated don’t last.
The best business plan for your real estate business should be on one page. It forces you to keep it simple and it makes it easy to review.
