Real Estate Social Media Q & A with some of the real estate industry smartest

Yesterday I took a road trip to Portland with David Gibbons of Zillow , Drew Meyers and Aaron Moore a real estate agent in the Seattle area. David was speaking at the Homequest 2010 Social Media Summit about twitter to the room full of real estate agents. There were some other great speakers like Gahlord Dewald of ThoughtFaucet.com, Garron Selliken of Homequest and  Dustin Luther RCG and 4Realz.

There was some amazing content shared by these guys about blogging, analytics, twitter and over all social media strategy. Below is a video of the Q & A section at the very end I took, featuring all the speakers.

The questions that were asked:

Why use WordPress instead of Blogspot?

My 2 Cents – Here is a coaching video of mine where I share the importance of having a blog and owning your space on the web. Stop Renting Your Internet Space – Start A Blog.

What are the steps to use analytics? Any blog posts on that?

My 2 Cents - Google analytics are of course the Grand Daddy of all this, but even using things like bit.ly links can give you a lot of feed back.

What kind of support does Homequest give to real estate agents that don’t have a lot of experience with blogs?

I’m not associated with the Homequest brand, but here is some tips on just getting started on any blogging platform,

Ian Watt talking about real estate business development

Thoughts on CPC, Cost Per Click Advertising?

My 2 Cents – I love facebook ads right now, just for the simple exercise of having to define your target audience. Go check it out.

Is there a way that I can get Google to recognize what I do with my Video Blog so I can gain SEO?

My 2 Cents – I have been experimenting with Youtube and Viddler probably too much lately. I have some viddler and youtube videos ranking on page one of Google. I’m also dominating Youtube search in specific keywords that I want. I am sharing this info with my coaching clients right now.

If you don’t have room for H1 tag on your website what should you do?

My 2 Cents- Gahlord gives a great answer. I don’t understand why any decent website/blog wouldn’t have room. #confused

I know that as a real estate agent this all seems like a lot to learn. I think its so important to get to this space now though. It’s what I’m calling Real Estate Shift 2.0 . If you are thinking to yourself “How am I suppose to fit all this in to my schedule?” check out my 1-2-1 Business Development Formula and maybe just think about flirting with the idea. It doesn’t have to be an all or nothing type of thing in the beginning.

Jeff – thanks for reaching out to me on twitter and inviting me. I’ll roll down that way anytime. Its not a bad commute especially when David Gibbons is doing the driving. :)
