There seems to be a lot of social media experts, social media gurus and social media rockstars out there right now. They all seem to be claiming the same thing, they can help real estate agents and their real estate business without having to do the old school uncomfortable tactics of calling expireds or FSBOs. Just build the relationship online and business will flock to you.

Hate to burst your social media bubble, but just because you know how to use the tools doesn’t mean you know how to utilize them to grow your real estate business.

Learn how to identify what are the right tools for your real estate business: twitter, facebook, foursquare, gowalla etc. Identify where your audience is at and then implement a social media strategy that is alignment with your overall lead generation plan.

Google Adwords and Facebook Ads For Real Estate Agents

I think there is huge opportunity to use google adwords and facebook ads in your real estate lead generation plan. Especially when you combine these forms of lead generation with your overall business development plan for your real estate business. Using google adwords or facebook ads allow a potential home seller or home buyer to find you that is not in the social media space or using keywords on google to search that you do not rank for organically yet.

Offline Lead Generation

I feel that success in life  and real estate sales involves the acceptance that things are a contradiction. Ying and Yang. With out one, you can’t have the other.

When a real estate agent tells me about their real estate business development strategy and its all offline, I say, “Great! How are you amplifying that business development strategy online?”.

When a  real estate agent shares with me how the are using real estate blogging and social media in their business development, I say, “That’s awesome! How are you using that to engage with people offline?”.

To me, you can’t have an online plan without an offline plan for your real estate business development strategy. You need to look at how you can align what you are doing online with an offline lead generation plan. You also need to look at how you can take old school offline lead generation plans and reinvent them with online tools like real estate blogging, SEO and social media.

For example, if you are calling FSBOs as a part of your lead generation plan, to see about getting the listing…why not create a landing page on your real estate blogsite with a specific URL. On that blogsite page you can share tips and ideas to help the FSBO with the sale of their home. When you call the FSBO for the listing appointment and the say “NO” invite them to check your value providing blogsite landing page. Or you can send a postcard with your domain name of your blogsite landing page.
